Mexico City and the Future of Global Development
We’re convening next-generation entrepreneurs and innovators solving the biggest problems of our time for three days in Mexico City. Will we see you there?
Dear Unlock Aid community,
Have you applied to join us in Mexico City yet? We’re now just 10 days away from the July 15 application deadline to apply for our “Reimagining the Future of Global Development” Moonshot Accelerator, hosted in partnership with the Federation of American Scientists’ Day One Project. We’ve already received many exciting and inspiring applications and can’t wait to gather with all of you in Mexico City this August for some blue-sky thinking about what the future of global development can look like.
We’re convening next-generation entrepreneurs and innovators solving the biggest problems of our time. Funders and policymakers will also be in attendance, so this is an opportunity to translate big ideas into action.
Space is limited and applications keep coming in, so please apply today!
Not sure if you should join us? Here’s some more detail: Together, over three days in Mexico City from August 17-19, we’ll identify 20-25 “shovel-ready” solutions and high-impact ideas that could be scaled today by public and private sector institutions. We’ll also surface policy actions that public funders can take to catalyze more innovation in global development.
You should definitely apply if:
You have a big, brilliant idea for the future of global development. One of the questions we ask applicants to answer is: “If you were given $500 million what would you do with the funding?” We’re especially interested in ideas from innovators with solutions to:
tackle food and water insecurity;
create responsive health systems;
preserve biodiversity ecosystems;
promote access to renewable energy, and;
transform global development systems to ensure the most impacted have a seat at the table and can access funding they need.
You can join us in Mexico City from August 17-19, 2022. We’ll subsidize travel for organizations headquartered in Africa, Latin America, and most of Asia.
You’re ready to think imaginatively, collaborate, and participate in a “Pitch Day” during the convening on Day 3 with policymakers and funders.
If applying on behalf of an organization, you fit into one of two buckets:
You have an innovative idea that shows early promise but needs more testing before it is ready to scale - i.e. carbon-free building materials, alternative proteins, drought-resistant seeds, etc.
Innovations that have demonstrated product-market fit, operating at a some level of scale, and ready to be embedded further into global programs.
Still have questions? We’re hosting an Ask Me Anything with our friends at the Day One Project this Friday, July 8 at 10am ET on Twitter. You can also submit questions in advance by clicking here.
Hope to see you next month in Mexico City!
To progress,
Walter Kerr
Unlock Aid Executive Director
P.S. Do you know an organization that should apply to join us in Mexico City? Please forward this to them or invite them to apply here.
